Asset Context Menus

Open an asset's context menu by clicking the three ellipses, or right clicking on the asset preview. From the context menu, users can select:

  • Open: open the content item
  • View: only available for presentations, view the presentation slide show in runtime.
  • Open in Maintenance Mode: open the data discovery without running the query.This feature is available only to Admins and only with the Enterprise license.
  • Open Related Content: select from these options to open the content item, and the items related to it. Choose Open All to open all related items; select Upstream to open items that were built using the specified asset; and select Downstream to open the content that was used to build the specified asset. Use the Lineage tool to view this information as a visualization.
  • Edit: only for presentations, open the presentation in edit mode in Present.
  • Copy or Cut: copy or cut the selected item - right click to Paste in another folder.
  • Delete: delete the selected item.
  • Purge: this option is available only for enterprise admins. Purge an item to delete it permanently.
  • Rename: rename an item.
  • Actions Panel: open the Actions Panel, where you can see the item's metadata, assign roles, change the datasource, see versioning, and access the missing data wizard.
  • Lineage: view the item's lineage - click here to learn more.
  • Export: export the selected item from its current folder location, in order to import it into another folder. When an item is exported, it will be downloaded as a .pie file - the downloaded file can be sent to other users, and later imported into the Content Explorer.
  • Add to Favorites: click to add the item to your favorites list.

Folder Context Menus

Open a folder's context menu to:

  • Open Folder: open the folder in the Content Explorer.
  • Open Folder Content: open all of the folder's contents, in the relevant apps.
  • Run Slide Show: run a slide show of the folder's contents.
  • Print Folder Content: export and print the folder's contents. From the Print & Export dialog, select the required output type, and the items you wish to export.
  • Copy and Cut: copy or cut a folder, and then paste it in another folder location.
  • Delete: remove a folder.
  • Purge: this option is available only for enterprise admins - purging a folder will delete it permanently, along with its contents.
  • Rename: rename a folder.
  • Export:export the selected folder as a .pie file, which can later be imported.
  • Import: import a file or folder that was exported and downloaded as a .pie file. This option is only enabled once an item is exported.
  • Actions Panel: open the selected folder's Actions Panel, where you can access the metadata panel, roles panel, data source changer.
    • Actions Panel sub-menu: from the Actions Panel content sub-menu, you can select the following:
      • Roles: open the roles panel
      • Metadata: open the metadata panel
      • Change Data Source: change the asset's data source form the data source changer

Copy and Paste

To copy and content item, right click on it or open its context menu and click Copy. To paste, right click on the required folder (or open the required folder and right click on the background). Select Paste or Deep Paste.

When copying a content item, there are two paste options:

Paste: select paste to copy and paste the selected item only.

Deep Paste: select deep paste to copy and paste the selected content item, and all of its related items. For instance, deep paste performed on a presentation will copy and paste the given presentation, and all of the assets within it. This would include any data discoveries, dynamic assets (images and texts), and business logic that was used to build the presentation, allowing you to consolidate the presentation along with all its assets, in one location.

Use deep paste functionality to copy and paste a content item, like presentation or publication, along with all it's related content.

Right Click Actions

  • Add Folder: add a new folder.
  • Import: import an item that was exported as .pie file.
  • Deep Paste: paste a copied content item, and all of its related items.
